Testnet and mainnet environments for Rising Tide Protocol - API endpoints, network configuration, and environment variables.

Rising Tide Protocol operates on two networks. All current development happens on testnet.

Testnet uses Stacks testnet tokens (STX), which have no real-world value. Contracts deployed on testnet are independent of mainnet.

No mainnet deployments have occurred. The protocol is in active development on testnet.

Recommended environment variables:

Variable	Purpose
`NEXT_PUBLIC_RT_API_URL`	Protocol API base URL. Testnet: `https://testnet-api.risingtide.app`. Mainnet (planned): `https://api.risingtide.app`.
`NEXT_PUBLIC_STACKS_NETWORK`	`"testnet"` or `"mainnet"`. Used by your app for network-aware fallbacks and chain-side helpers.
`NEXT_PUBLIC_API_KEY`	App-scoped key. Identifies your app to the protocol and scopes which contract templates and routes you can hit.
`NEXT_PUBLIC_APP_ID`	Numeric app id. `RisingTideProviders` reads it for the signup posture, the server-set app mode and the entry curtain; centralize it in `src/lib/env.ts`.
`NEXT_PUBLIC_PRIVY_APP_ID`	Privy app id, passed to `RisingTideProviders` as `privy.appId`. Use a separate Privy app per network.
`NEXT_PUBLIC_RT_PROFILE_URL`	Optional override for the profile hub URL. The default follows `NEXT_PUBLIC_STACKS_NETWORK`.

Cross-app URL defaults must be network-aware

Anywhere your app links out to another deployed protocol app (rt-profile, rt-events, the API), the fallback in env.ts should switch on NEXT_PUBLIC_STACKS_NETWORK. Workspace convention:

Hardcoding the production URL as a default sends testnet users to mainnet.

API keys by environment

Each environment uses a separate API key. Testnet keys work only against the testnet API. Contact the protocol team to obtain a testnet API key.
